TASK: READ THE TEXT 'THE BLACK DEATH' AND DO THE ACTIVITIES 2,3,4,6
WRITE VOCABULARY IN A LIST
FOCUS ON PHRASES WITH 'END'
THEN, CHECK YOUR ANSWERS ( BE HONEST....!)

activity 2 :read the article and number the events in chronological order.

activity 3: read the article again and answer the question:
1. between a quarter and a half of the population
2. fleas living on rats tht accompanied merchants on their travels
3.in general terms, because there were not hygiene measures, people were malnourished because of the situation (failed harvests, food shortages), people were more suceptible to infections and it was more contagious than any other illness before.
4.overcrowding and poor sanitary conditions (and whatever you want to add according to the text)
5.medical profession fled to the countryside and it also had consequences
6.labour shortage helped to the empowerment of the serfs, peasants that had traditionally worked for a master, these labourers greatly improved their position on society.
activity 4: Study the highlighted phrases in the article and explain their meaning. Then complete the text below with the correct form of six of the phrases:
1. met an untimely end
2 at their wit's end

4 on the receiving end of
5. light at the end of the tunnel

activity 6: Add one of the clauses a-h below to sentences 1-8. Use: as, just as, as if, as.....as, although, even though to connect them
